How to Truly Help a Brother (Communicating towards The Answer-14)

🔙 Back to the General Description in the page Recent Activities

How we respond to a brother’s request for help reveals how much we want God’s Answer for us. It is also a reflection of who we believe we are. In our response we find an opportunity to restore our minds and thinking to peace and sanity, His Answer. How can we tell if we are not relying on His Answer that is the Voice of the Holy Spirit, but rather want to hear our own voice that speaks of seemingly good ideas and a betterment of oneself and the world? But once investigated and exposed we learn and recognize that it’s based on ego, generates still fear, and teaches a false reality of past learning.
Many opportunities present themselves in which we can be truly helpful and the question is how can we be sure we are offering the true Answer rather than supporting and reinforcing sickness, pain, and death?
Another question in this respect is: What is truly loving, and what is truly compassionate? The world’s idea of love and compassion is what keeps us and our brothers “in hell”, basically “here” in separation. The ego’s invitation will always be one to agree with its plan, thus what is not true. We always choose between engaging in this way for the sake of normalcy or dare to follow and share something new that does not relate with the past.

Jesus teaches us in A Course in Miracles that we can change our mind in regard to this limited thinking, and offers us a new basis of relating with Him inside our Heart and Soul. (Text, chapter 12-I-5.-6.,8., 27VI-6. & Teacher Manual – As for the Rest…-6.) ◊ ◊

How to deal with apparent atrocities (Communicating towards The Answer-13)

🔙 Back to the General Description in the page Recent Activities

There is a question that every teacher and student has to answer: How to deal with the atrocities of the world? How can we – practicing A Course in Miracles – share and experience healing even when facing information or situations that involve atrocities like genocide, murder, rape and violence etc.. How do we accept responsibility for what we see and what we made, and still engage in a compassionate way with what is seemingly out there and share it with brothers who are experiencing this too? We don’t want to become cold, callus and removed, but rather truly loving and truly helpful. There is a temptation to turn a blind eye to these horrors and say “well, it isn’t happening to me now and I hope it never happens to me.”
Finally we realize that this is not part of true healing, but rather an expression of fear. Therefore we ask the Holy Spirit to help us. If we (especially as Course students) jump over feelings and avoid the connection by saying “this is an illusion”, are we making with such an expression a mistake? For most people who suffer of unjust or violent actions caused by others such expressions are felt like a personal attack on them or justifying the attacker’s actions. Another question arises: Are there certain scenarios harder to forgive or even exceptions made? If so, what does it take to align the mind with truth and His wisdom? Fact is we all want to experience peace of mind.

Jesus teaches us in A Course in Miracles that we can change our mind in regard to this limited thinking, and offers us a new basis of relating with Him inside our Heart and Soul. (ch. 26-X-3.-4., 25-IX-7.-10. & Ls 55(22 & 23) ◊ ◊

Dealing with the non-exciting mundane (Communicating towards The Answer-12)

🔙 Back to the General Description in the page Recent Activities

What to do with the mundane, the boring, the average, the space deemed by the ego as uneventful? Not bad, not good, but in between. This space presents itself when we find ourselves feeling disappointed and eager as an ego to make up more stuff. This is where the ego mind loves to invent amusements, diversions, and drama. We realize that boredom and perception of the mundane have something to do with the minds tendency to see the past and judge the present. There seems to be a hierarchy of feelings. But how can we stand this feeling of just “being o.k.”, or “not too bad”, or e.g. just “living a pretty good life”. Are these feelings of intolerance to the point that we try to “create” something else in order to fill the space? Or are these feelings pointing to something more to learn? Are they just another symptom of believing to be stuck in a body in space-time and bound for death? Do they suggest that fear still has its grip on us and just disguises itself this way in these “not that bad” feelings?
We started questioning such state of mind and considered more and more the possibility to feel Joy all the time instead of these limitations? We want to be aware of all of it and share our understanding of the so called perceived mundane as well as quotes of ACIM that point us to an Experience that comes from our thinking with God, and the choice for Peace, Joy and Happiness.

Jesus teaches us in A Course in Miracles that we can change our mind in regard to this limited thinking, and offers us a new basis of relating with Him inside our Heart and Soul. (Ls 12, ch. 31-IV-1., 27-III-3.-5.) ◊ ◊

Which hurdles passes the Teacher of God? (Communicating towards The Answer-11)

🔙 Back to the General Description in the page Recent Activities

Once the student has undergone a certain undoing process within his transformation, the theme of being a Teacher of God and what that actually means will present itself in his/her mind. Many are drawn to teach in a formal way, within a setup of offering classes, recording podcasts, writing down their recognition to specific themes, entering with seekers experiences in workshops and practicing together, etc. These activities are thought to be presented in a way that they motivate and communicate a teaching content. Therefore the teacher gives his best to have it demonstrated with certainty and a certain amount of attractiveness. At that point doubts in the mind of the presenter might question his/her qualification, and ask: “Am I sufficiently qualified to teach about the truth? Why do I deem that I am inadequate to do this? Is there anything missing to fulfill ones mission, and if so, what is it that is missing?”
These and similar thoughts of self-doubt may impede the teacher’s expression. He/She might strengthen this doubt within themselves and question if they ever will be able to do this! Obviously the ego is active and making a point, and the guidance by the Holy Spirit is not fully seen. Of course, teaching formats differ greatly, and every teacher represents a certain ray within the Sonship that has its own attractiveness within a greater Communication with Self. What does it take to accept such assignment fulfilling ones own divine purpose in the Awakening? Is this not for us to assess without the ego’s interference, and just to listen and receive the instructions given by HIM? And if a feeling of worthlessness is still predominant, is there more learning required, incl. more acceptance of these ideas until true understanding comes in? Inviting His Answer as part of our change of mind, we will recognize a new alignment with His instructions in their true meaning. ◊

What does it mean to be truly honest?(Communicating towards The Answer-10)

🔙 Back to the General Description in the page Recent Activities

Once the transformational journey had begun we asked an important question: What is it to be honest?, What is true honesty? In A Course in Miracles we hear and learn about the meaning of honesty as consistency. What does this mean and how can we teach it, is what we investigate in this class. Is it to share an interpretation of the ego as an opposite to lies, or the feelings and perceptions that arise from the split mind, however staying in a reality of dream images on the time line that give evidence of their changing nature? Or is it simply the clarity in our mind to no longer deceive ourselves, to understand that no thought, action or expression contradicts ones own thinking, nor opposes any of our thoughts?!
Another issue around honesty may come up when we are seemingly “out in the world”, particularly when meeting seeming strangers. The ego’s expression of fear might be to avoid exposure and suggest to be nice, pleasant, contain certain feelings, not show intense feelings, but be rather agreeable with everyone and be o.k. with idol thoughts or idol talk, simply for the sake of getting along and being liked. What does it mean to be honest with ourselves? Will such issues that are obviously bypassed not continue to resurface until they are authentically offered to the Holy Spirit and be undone? Can we understand our honest willingness to value the thoughts that have consistency in true and everlasting value as true honesty? Some lessons in the Workbook as well as the teaching of this second characteristic of a teacher of God in the Manual for Teachers offer us this new perspectives. It states that honesty does not apply only to what one says, and that the truly honest are at no level in conflict with themselves, and that the Peace of mind that such advanced teachers of God experience is largely due to their honesty. In the willingness to expose the ego’s dishonesty and invite a change of mind we will recognize an inner alignment with honesty in its true meaning. ◊

Overcoming the Fear of the Brother (Communicating towards The Answer-9)

🔙 Back to the General Description in the page Recent Activities

For a long time we have lived in fear, particularly in fear of our brothers. Especially when being around a lot of other people, first, the need to judge them arises, and then – more deeply – the actual feeling of being afraid of all which are perceived outside oneself presents itself. How it shows up on the level of thoughts is that you will be judged by them, disliked or not accepted. There might be a sense of holding back with this self observation, because of a feeling that it could hurt them or hurt ourselves. Joining with Him we are learning to see much faster what is happening in our mind. When there is fear, a need of holding it together, being nice, doing what is socially right and acceptable, etc.. Why can’t we just be naturally ourselves, experiencing the greater joining and love with our companions and loved ones? The questions that are faced in the transformative process of these reflections of massive projections are “Why is fear the chosen experience?” and “What is this fear all about? Fear of what?”. The ideas of seeing differences and specialness, as well as wanting to be special, are certainly involved, because there are exceptions to this human pattern, like relationships in which one can be very natural and expressive. ◊

Is there any value in Routine? (Communicating towards The Answer-8)

🔙 Back to the General Description in the page Recent Activities

We have been taught that routines can be helpful in a person’s transformational process in the sense that practice at a set time and a spiritual “to do list” that is instructing how to live towards God etc. are necessary or at least can help to train the mind to reach and sustain such desired goal and state of mind. Routines are considered to help in attaining to surrender to the Holy Spirit. But is such a concept of prescribed disciplines really the ingredient for revelation?
We have experienced that if a routine is given too much attention and power, then fear and upset can arise when it can’t be adhered to, and after some time doubts about the quest for enlightenment arise and frustration gets a stronghold in the practitioners mind. Are there other ways demonstrated?
What if the routine starts to trump the Voice for God and there is no space for us to hear His direction? Is there a way that the routine can be used by the ego to maintain control and avoid listening, and thus avoiding the direct communication with God? Or are there certain routines that are always good and beneficial no matter what, i.e. the ones that involve dedicating time with God? Often much of what creates value in a set schedule is an idea of what has worked in the past, but is no longer aligned with the present recognition of the Divine within. By communicating and joining with Him we are learning to let go of control, fear and past ideas about most of the routines, and realize the simplicity to give our day to God by releasing it from the past. ◊

Awakening and Sex (Communicating towards The Answer-7)

🔙 Back to the General Description in the page Recent Activities

The common approach to matters of sexual feelings, thoughts and actions are kept mostly “private”. Guilt is often not recognized and the experience perceived limited to sense perceptions until the mind starts to focus on the joining in Mind and Soul which reveals God. As long as minds are hiding from God, shame and guilt will sneak in with its identity reduced to a body. Giving raise to fear that sex and this source of pleasure might be taken away, or would get lost in the awakening process, might result in hesitation to give it all to the Holy Spirit. In certain ancient traditions, e.g. in some eastern approaches, the practice is leading one to the supreme Happiness or divine Ecstasy, and “pleasure” is understood as a vertical alignment with God through joining in Light, and not through some specific ritual of sexual contact. The highest form of these traditions is not expressing the body at all any more.

What needs to be learned and practiced is that the energy needs to be given to the Holy Spirit so that it can be used for transformation and for the awakening. Suppressing this energy or denying it will not help. There are many feelings as a form of suppression and denial active in the subconscious like shame, guilt, remorse, fears etc, as well as the meaning of joining in peace, joy, love and ecstasy which the thoughts of sex invoke. Everyone at some point has asked if there is a right or wrong way to have sex? What does the Course say about this topic? What is it about sex and the power of sex? Is it really just for procreation? Why were we given the ability to procreate and feel such intense feelings? Can it be used to bring us closer to God and to a real experience of Him or is it simply used to further verify us as a body in space time that has physical needs? Even further: is the pleasure from sex a weak substitute for that ecstatic joining we experience in the Light that transcends the physical? Spiritual disciplines in many established religions suggest celibacy and abstinence as a necessary path for awakening and enlightenment. Have we successfully freed us from these doctrines that teach a perceptual reality?! ◊

Course revelations vs. Christian doctrines (Communicating towards The Answer-6)

🔙 Back to the General Description in the page Recent Activities

We are shown in this meeting about true Understanding in regard to instructions given by the Christian establishment or by the teaching of A Course in Miracles. We have come a long way and have been educated for thousands of years in many traditions, rituals and spiritual concepts which needed to be accepted in these particular religious societies. To question their core concepts or even live against them was not acceptable, and still faces self righteous judgments and rejection, besides a strong push on the political level. We will look at these basic concepts of right and wrong, good and bad, the concept of sin and the fear of a punishing God that still causes feelings of guilt and a sense of not being free, besides a deep feeling to not belong to such particular community. A form of intolerance and a steady demonstration of a need to ‘be right’ which both are justified and backed up by doctrinal interpretation of Jewish, Christian or Muslim scholars throughout many lifetimes can be seen in a wide spread array of expressions.
However, the present teaching of Christ Jesus about the true meaning of love and forgiveness has reached the higher consciousness beyond these strict and intolerant interpretations of Bible texts, and is reflected in many, many ways, although the words as given in A Course in Miracles are definitely outstanding since they do not relate with behavior. That such a unearthly Work is judged as the ‘devil’s work’ by many christian scholars and is rejected, together with their students and teachers, is actually speaking for itself. ◊

Is it the Healer or the Devil’s advocate? (Communicating towards The Answer-5)

🔙 Back to the General Description in the page Recent Activities

We are shown in this meeting what our understanding about true Guidance by the Holy Spirit offers us, or following the voice that is the ego’s and tries to deceive by pretending to offer healing and the solution. By believing this “voice” to be of His Guidance such minds become literally the “devil’s advocate”, so to speak. We are looking at questions of whether this well-meant “work” was truly leading people to their own contact with God and their true role in the healing of their brothers. Certainly the part of the healing that directs the mind towards new discoveries of its thinking is helpful, and yet when it lacks a complete trust that the Holy Spirit would take this step for the one being healed, such minds need to learn that all healing is ultimately and really always only for oneself. So, we are looking at the content of our spiritual experiences that include psychic phenomena and our ability to sort what is truly helpful and where the ego is trying to sell its magical thoughts.

Jesus teaches us in A Course in Miracles that we can change our mind in regard to this limited thinking, and offers us a new basis of relating with Him inside our Heart and Soul. (Manual for Teachers-28.-3., Text, Chapter 7/IV/5.). ◊
